Hey folk, whassup? If you’re wondering about which book to indulge in next, fret not – your favorite bookworm in town will tell you all about Sirius Sinclair’s publications. First of all, let me tell you, whichever book you choose to read first, you will LOVE it (at least if you’re like me – and did I tell you I had great taste?!).
So far, Sirius Sinclair published eight novels, out of which five were on the top 2 bestsellers for months. Sinclair fuses elements of gothic literature, horror and psycho-thriller into spellbinding novels. Here are four of my absolute faves:
Absolute must-reads:
The Killer of Faintsbury,
In this story, we follow the steps of eighteen-year old Catherine Thompson who is to be married to Augustus Clarke, who is twenty years her senior. In this historical thriller which heavily relies on gothic elements, Catherine discovers that a ghost-like creature in the mirror haunts her.
As her new relationship deteriorates but none of the other characters seem to believe her experiences, she spirals into an abyss that brings about an inevitable change of character. However, everything transforms when she discovers that she can talk to a book on the shelf. Her new companion, however, follows her in her thoughts almost more than the spectre itself...
The Maze of Marseille,
In this novel set in one of the most notorious cities in France, Sinclair takes the reader through the banlieues and ghettoes of Marseille. Behind street corners and dark alleys hides a world of intrigue, drugs, affairs and most of all, characters that play with each other’s lives like spiders trying to entangle everyone in their grand cob-web...
Mr. Trickreich,
This story starts off as classic detective story, in which Theodor Belge hires an investigator to inquire into the death of his wife. However, as the story progresses, the reader has more and more trouble unearthing the true villain in the story, especially when it becomes evident that Theodor had hired a contract killer in the past...
His influential friends do not seem trustworthy either, especially a Miss Theresa Alain, who is a spy. Things get out of hand when Theodor realizes that he has feelings for her...
Slaughterhouse Sales,
This novel is set in a slaughterhouse in Italy. The smell of foul flesh and blood does not only fill the surrounding streets but also the reader’s minds as they travel through the story. The owner of the slaughterhouse is a lady in her fifties, and her husband, whose dark eyes “look like the churning smoke departing from their ever-cremating chimney“.
But nothing’s as it seems to be, especially when the ghosts of the past begin to speak…
